Fellow citizens, The Selectmen appointed committee ORASC (Outdoor Recreation Area Studies Committee) has finalized its comprehensive 47 page report on the state of Bedford's fields which can be found here.

In summary, we do not have enough fields for the programs we currently have, and the fields we do have are below par in terms of condition and availability.

After 5 long years, we finally have the opportunity to vote at town meeting to install turf at the HS football field.

What's new this time ? * We're question # 4 (after a few quick procedural articles), which means we should have a very early night * The gym will be staffed with adults and BHS students to provide activities for kids while parents vote * The Selectmen have already voted to recommend approval * The Finance Committee has already voted to recommend approval (!) *

The Board of Health has issued a statement stating there are no unique hazards relative to turf that do not also exist with natural grass We have the civic momentum, and we've cleared the way with as many Committees that are willing to listen with open minds. Now it's time to get out the vote !

Please forward this to as many friends and neighbors as you can - Bedford kids deserve this project, and taxpayers deserve not to see their money wasted maintaining grass fields that clearly do not meet our requirements.
