1. Swing States (And Others), A Musical Tour of the Nifty Fifty States
Where/When: Follen Community Church, 755 Massachusetts Ave, Lexington; 7:30 p.m., Friday, Nov. 2
Why Go: American Classics continues their popular series of election year concerts with the 2012 installment, Swing States (and the Others), a non-partisan election year tour of the fifty states. The program will feature songs about states from Broadway and Hollywood, along with some official state songs and, in the non-partisan spirit, songs representing the birth and home states of the major party presidential candidates and their running mates.

2. Margaret Kenda presents "Math Wizardry for Kids"
Where/When: The Concord Bookshop, 65 Main St, Concord; 1 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3
Why Go: Margaret Kenda will discuss her children's books Math Wizardry for Kids, Science Wizardry for Kids, and Cooking Wizardry for Kids, and invites audience members to participate in an interactive experiment/demo.

3. World On Stage presents SOUNDS OF KOREA  and SOFIA REI 
Where/When: National Heritage Museum, 33 Marrett Rd, Lexington; 7 and 9 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 3
Why Go: As part of the World On Stage series at the National Heritage Museum, Sounds of Korea is a unique show which presents the traditional music, song, and dance from Korea by some of the most well known and talented musicians, singers, and dancers in the US. Sounds of Korea is the premier performance group of Korean traditional arts in the U.S. And Sofia Rei is one of the most passionate, charismatic and inventive vocalists from South America. Originally from Buenos Aires, Argentina, her music is grounded in traditional South American rhythms. Her ensemble produces a range of textures as diverse as the cultural roots of its members, an international cast that includes some of the most exciting young talent from North and South America.

4. Transitions - An Evening of Dance (Munroe Saturday Nights)

5. James Wood presents "The Fun Stuff: And Other Essays"
Where/When: The Concord Bookshop, 65 Main St, Concord; 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 4
Why Go: James Wood will be reading from and signing his latest book of essays, The Fun Stuff, which includes the title essay on Keith Moon and the lost joys of drumming—which was a finalist for last year’s National Magazine Awards—as well as Wood’s essay on George Orwell, which Christopher Hitchens selected for the Best American Essays 2010.
