The Bedford Fire Department and Bedford Police Department responded to a two-alarm house fire at 224 Carlisle Road late Thursday afternoon. Fire Chief David Grunes and Police Sgt. Michael Cloutier evacuated one woman from the first floor of the residence, according to BPD.
On Wednesday, ex-CIA officer Tony Mendez, the inspiration for the Academy Award nominated film "Argo," stopped by Middlesex Community College to talk about the role he played in formulating and executing the plan to extrat six American hostages from Iran during the 1979-80 hostage crisis.

Lane School students celebrated the school's first annual Maker Day this week, devoting time to hands on learning and working in groups to...well...make things. Students worked in small groups, using a variety of technologies including hammers, sewing needles, pliers, MaKey MaKey Invention Kits, electrical circuit paint, LED bulbs and coin sized batteries to make everything from oragami to computer programs.
