TELL US: Where Does Bedford Need a New Sidewalk?

Members of Transportation Advisory Committee recently presented a possible sidewalk project for Concord Road to the Selectmen.

At the Selectmen meeting on Dec. 3, members of the Transportation Advisory Committee presented a plan for a potential future sidewalk project on Concord Road between Casesar Jones Way and Hardy Road.

The North Road sidewalk project is drawing to a close, and conversation is starting about Bedford's next sidewalk construction project.

So we want to know: Where do you think Bedford most needs a new sidewalk? Let us know in the comment section below.

The next sidewalk project should be on Hemlock Lane! Lots of high speed cut-through traffic, especially during morning & evening commutes. Lots of New Hampshire plates on vehicles. Kids & walkers have difficulty negotiating this confrontation of vehicles. Look, even the town knows this is an arterial street, It has painted a Double Solid Line in the middle of the street for years! Thanks for Listening, David Shamlian, 14 Hemlock Lane.

South Road needs an extension to the soccer fields.

David, interesting observation about the out-of-staters using Hemlock as a cut-through.

Joy, just got an email from another reader echoing this point. A sidewalk on South Road would also provide a walking route for families to Bedford Center.

Definitely South Road. I always see kids, including my own, who walk on South Rd to get home. At night, that road is very dark. I don't see the kids walking until The last minute. Not safe at all.

Very small stretch on Concord Rd. between Bonnivale & Slheraton. Just a block but when walking to Davis school we need to walk on neighbors lawns to stay off Concord rd.

Would a sidewalk on this stretch of Concord Road connect to the existing sidewalk network?

I completely agree on a South Road sidewalk. The road is so dangerous to walk on. We could walk to school, the center of town, and get to the bike path easily.

I would love to see a sidewalk on Old Billerica Road between the condo complex and the bridge over rt. 3.

If the road has a double yellow line it needs a sidewalk. Our town is not too big. We should be able to walk from just about anywhere to the center but instead neighborhoods are isolated. I would start from the center of town and work outward on any roads with double yellow lines.

Lori, out of curiosity, does the bike path provide any sort of cut through for pedestrians?
