Weekend Planner: Patriots' Day Festivities Begin, Holocaust Remembrance

1. "Margaret Fuller in Love:" Megan Marshall Speaks about Her New Biography
Where/When: Concord Free Public Library, 129 Main St, Concord; 7 p.m., Friday, April 5
Why Go: Pulitzer finalist Megan Marshall will give a presentation on "Margaret Fuller in Love" at the Concord Free Public Library.The event celebrates the publication of Marshall's "Margaret Fuller: A New American Life." A festive Italian dessert reception and book signing follow the presentation.

2. Meriam's Corner Exercise
Where/When: Corner of Lexington and Old Bedford roads, Concord; 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6
Why Go: The first of many Patriots' Day events in the area, the Meriam's Corner Exericse marks the assembly and actions of militia and minuteman units that arrived here to engage the British Regulars retrating from the North Bridge on April 19, 1775.

3. Fiske Frost
Where/When: Knights of Columbus, 177 Bedford St, Lexington; 7 p.m., Saturday, April 6
Why Go: To dance the night away with the Mark Greel Band, enjoy yummy appetizers, desserts and drinks (cash bar) and bid on silent auction items like Red Sox tickets, top restaurants, summer camp, an iPad and more.  Proceeds raised support many enrichment programs offered at the Fiske Elementary School.

4. Open Studios at Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts
Where/When: Emerson Umbrella Center for the Arts, 40 Stow St, Concord; 12 to 5 p.m., Satuday, April 6 and 1 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 7
Why Go: Because the Umbrella's more than 50 artists – painters, potters, jewelers, furniture makers, book illustrators, weavers, photographers and more -- will open their studios to the public.

5. Holocaust Memorial Program commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising
Where/When: Temple Emunah, 9 Piper Road, Lexington;
Why Go: A central goal of the commemoration program is to fathom the depth of the heroic Jewish fighting response to the Nazis in the face of certain defeat in battle. The program will feature a documentary, words from Warsaw Ghetto fighters and songs.
