A look back at the number of gun permits issued to Bedford residents, the scam that duped one Bedford resident and BPD's gun buy back program.

 

On Wednesday we took a look at how many gun permits were issued to Bedford residents from 2008 through 2012. Permits issued to Bedford residents for large-capacity firearms such as the Beretta 92 pistol and the SPAS-12 shotgun rose 29 percent since 2008. 

Gov. Patrick submitted his $34.8 budget proposal, asking for an increase in the income tax from 5.25 percent to 6.25 percent coupled with a reduction in the sales tax from 6.25 percent to 4.5 percent. It also doubles personal exemptions.

The owner of a Chelmsford oil service company pleaded guilty for taking deposits from clients for work and repairs which were never performed, Middlesex District Attorney Gerry Leone announced this week. One of the victims of the scam was a Bedford resident. 

Bedford Police Chief Robert Bongiorno announced a gun buy back program this week, which will pay Bedford resident $50 for each firearm turned into the Bedford Police Department while funding for the program lasts.
