7 Killed in Plane Crash at Hanscom Field

A private jet crashed on takeoff and burst into flames.

Authorities have confirmed all seven people on board a private jet that crashed on takeoff and burst into flames at Hanscom Field Saturday night have died.

Officials are not releasing the names of the victims until all families are notified. 

Hanscom will be closed indefinitely, officials said at a 2:30 a.m. press conference. The next press briefing on the accident is expected at 8 a.m. Sunday morning.

The plane involved in the crash is said to be a Gulfstream IV. It was headed to Atlantic City International Airport in New Jersey. Officials confirmed early Sunday morning it was a private plane. 
 
Officials from Massport, the FAA and FBI are all on scene. 

The crash happened at about 9:40 p.m. on Runway 11 at Hanscom Field in Bedford.

At an 11:25 p.m. news conference, officials would not say if those onboard survived.

The National Transportation Safety Board has launched a probe into the crash.

A burning smell from the fire could be detected as far as 20 miles away in parts of Boston.

Emergency responders from Bedford, Concord, and Lexington were sent to the scene.

Clean Harbors is also at the scene. WCVB-TV, Channel 5 Boston is reporting no word from officials if a water source near the runway has been compromised.
