Police Log: Two Arrests and Strange Voices From the Basement

The following information was provided by the Bedford Police Department. An arrest does not indicate a conviction.

 

Saturday, Jan. 19

12:17 a.m.- Police received a call from a mother reporting her daughter was babysitting at 26 Selfridge Road and had called to tell her she heard voices coming from the basement. The responding officers reported they checked the basement and exterior of the house and found nothing.

10:19 a.m.- The Bedford Police Department received a call reporting a loose dog in the area of Concord Road at Davis Road. The responding officer reported the dog belonged to a Concord Road resident, but no one was home to take the dog when he knocked at the door. The owner later came into the station to pick up their dog. 

11:03 a.m.- A resident of Saran Avenue reported a suspicious person had come and knocked at his door for the third day in a row. The caller reported he believed the person to be going to every house on the street. The responding officer reported he spoke with a female walking down the street, who said she was soliciting for Comcast. The officer notified her she needed a permit from the town to solicit. The solicitor said she would get a permit, and would leave the area until she did so. The officer relayed this information to the reporting person, who said he believed the person who had come to his door had been carrying a book.

1:23 p.m.- A resident of Elmbrook Circle reported blue smoke coming from the area of a neighbor's residence. The smoke was coming from the homeowner using their fireplace.

6:44 p.m.- A caller reported a disturbance in the parking lot of 297 Great Road. The caller said a male keyed her vehicle and was making threats to her before leaving the area in his car. BPD notified Lexington and Lincoln Police. Lexington Police reported they had stopped the individual on Airport Road. Willard Dickie, of 184 Bedford Road in Lincoln, was arrested for malicious destruction of property and threatening to commit a crime. 

10:16 p.m.- Police received a call reporting a domestic incident in progress at 4107 Taylor Pond Lane. The responding officer reported Edwin Torres, of 4107 Taylor Pond Lane in Bedford, was arrested for domestic assault and battery.
