Bedford Girls Basketball, Boys Hockey Headed for MIAA Tournaments

Bedford High School girls basketball and boys hockey begin their playoff runs this week.

 

Two Bedford High School winter sports teams will be headed for the Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association tournament this week. 

The BHS girls varsity basketball (7) will take on the Newburyport High School Clippers (10) on Feb. 27 at 7 p.m. at Bedford High School in the first round of the MIAA North Division 3 Tournament.

Coach John Cody has led the Buccaneer's to a 9-5 record this season, while the Clippers stand at 7-8 under head coach Neil Reardon. 

The winner of the first round matchup between Bedford and Newburyport will go on to face St. Mary's High School of Lynn (2), who earned a first-round bye with a 15-3 regular season record under head coach Jeff Newhall.

Later in the week, BHS varsity boys ice hockey (9) will take on the Weston High School Wildcats (8) at 8 p.m. at Ryan Arena in Watertown on Feb. 28 in the first round of the MIAA North Division 3 Tournament.  

The winner of the first round matchup between Bedford and Weston will go on to face Lowell High School (5) in the quarterfinals, who earned a first-round bye under head coach Bill Donahue this season.
